"Never try never know. Now renamed to Yeng Keng Cafe, Nyonya flavours still there. Steamed otak-otak brought back childhood memories. Keep up the good flavours."

"Restaurant attached to the Yeng Keng hotel, a Nyonya themed place. I like this for its more gentle and comfortable Nyonya cuisine in a nice setting. Unlike many Nyonya restaurants in Penang which I find their food too strong and spicy to my liking, which favours aroma and authenticity more than just pumped up in spice. The Kapitan curry chicken is very flavourful but not overly rich and certainly not intimidating. Good to go with rice. Perut ikan (fish stomach) is even more flavorful in strong Asam flavour which is a tad too strong for me personally, that said it is still very good again going with rice and too strong if without. The squid dish Juhu Char (魷魚炒) is another amazing treat, one of the best I have had for this favourite dish of mine. The Lobak is good but not outstanding. The fried vermelli noodle is also good though not wow. Overall a pleasant experience better than some other I have had in Penang, and many in Melaka."

"Really enjoyed the Nyonya food here Among all the dishes we ordered, the nasi ulam stood out the most — all the different spices blended together so nicely, and it was very fragrant. We also loved the yam duck — rich, flavourful, and certainly a dish we rarely see these days. On top of that, their service was warm and friendly, and the washroom was very clean. We had a great dining experience and would definitely bring more friends/family here next time."

"I visited this spot specifically for their signature Hainan-style chicken chop, and it did not disappoint. Located right next to Yeng Peng Hotel, the place has a charming vintage interior that adds to its appeal. We ordered the chicken chop, and it was beautifully presented with a generous portion size. The sauce was a standout—light and well-balanced, complementing the dish without overpowering it. The chicken itself was perfectly seasoned, with delightfully crispy edges that made each bite satisfying. I absolutely loved it. Don’t miss out on their spring rolls either—crispy on the outside and packed with crunchy vegetables and crab meat on the inside. A perfect side dish. Highly recommend this place!"

"This restaurant is located in Yeng Keng Hotel. The nasi ulam was nice and full of spices. The curry fish was also delicious, and the spring rolls were good. Strongly recommended!"

"Food is flavourful with affordable price. My favourite is the hainanese chicken chop. The chicken pie need to pre-order. It has fusion taste and worth trying. Make reservation ahead of time as it’s kinda full house even on weekdays. As for the reservation experience,i would appreciate improvement in the way the person reply. As it felt like quite cold & not looking forward to our visit. Overall experience is good but truly reservation part needs improvement."

"Place with plenty of old-world charm. Nice collection of photographs, memorabilia, and an imposing bar area. We went with some friends and had a selection of dishes. The standouts for me were the Nasi Ulam, chicken chop, and the gorgeously presented Pai Tee. The sago gula melaka dessert was yummy, too. Overall, it was a great experience. The service was good, though we thought that some of the staff could do with a refresher course in being more warm and welcoming. One star deducted for this vague attitude with unfriendly undertones."

"Authentic and delicious. Chicken pie is wholesome, chicken chop well prepared and crispy, spring roll is superb with crab meat."
